How Does Distance Healing Actually Work?
If you're new to distance healing, there's a good chance one question is sitting at the front of your mind, how can someone work with me if they're not in the room? It's the question I'm asked most often, and it's a fair one. Here is my honest answer, along with what actually happens in a session.
What distance healing is
Distance healing is energy healing that takes place while the practitioner and the person receiving it are in different places. You might be at home in Brisbane, on a remote farm or in a flat in London. Nobody needs to travel, and there's no physical contact involved.
The method I use is Quantum-Touch. It works with life force energy, using breath, focused attention and intention to raise that energy and direct it where it's needed. The body then uses it in its own way. If you'd like to understand the method itself, I've explained it more fully on the What is Quantum-Touch? page.
Why distance doesn't matter
My understanding, after many years of practice, is that life force energy connects all living beings. It doesn't sit inside one body and stop at the skin. It runs through all of us and between all of us, and it isn't limited by space or time.
So when I sit down to work with someone at a distance, I'm not sending something across the country like a parcel. I'm connecting with an energy that already links us. Whether you're five metres away or five thousand kilometres away doesn't change that connection. A distance session isn't a lesser version of an in-person one. It's the same work, without the travel.
How a session works in practice
Every distance session I offer follows the same three steps.
Check-in. We start with a conversation by video or phone. You tell me what's been going on and what you'd like support with. You don't need to have the right words for it. This is also a good time to ask anything you're unsure about.
The session. You settle somewhere quiet and comfortable and simply rest. Some people lie down, others sit in a favourite chair. You don't need to do anything or hold any particular thought. While you rest, I do the work.
Follow-up. Afterwards we talk again briefly. I share what I noticed, you share what you felt, and we talk about how to look after yourself over the next day or so.
If you'd like to know how to set yourself up beforehand, Preparing for Your Distance Session covers the practical details.
What people notice
Everyone's experience is different, and there's no right way for a session to feel. People often describe warmth, tingling, a sense of heaviness or lightness, or gentle movement in the body. Some feel very little at the time and notice things later. Many simply feel deeply relaxed, and it isn't unusual for someone to drift off to sleep.
In the hours afterwards, some people feel calm and settled, while others feel tired and want to rest. Emotions can surface too, which is a natural part of the process. After Your Quantum-Touch Session has some simple suggestions for that time.
It's okay to be sceptical
If part of you is reading this and thinking it all sounds a bit hard to believe, that's completely fine. Scepticism is a natural.
You don't need to believe in distance healing for it to work. You don't need to understand it, feel anything in particular or have any experience with energy work. All that's needed is a willingness to give it a go and to notice whatever you notice. Some people who come to me unsure are surprised by their own experience. Others take a little longer to form a view, and that's fine too.
It works for animals too
Distance healing works in the same way for animals. They don't need to understand what's happening or stay still for it, and they remain in their own familiar surroundings while I work. In some ways animals are the simplest example of all, because they bring no expectations with them. You can read more on the Animal Healing Sessions page.
If you would like to try it
The best way to understand distance healing is to experience it for yourself. You'll find session details, pricing and booking on the Distance Healing Sessions page. And if you'd rather ask a question first, you're always welcome to get in touch.
